If you have a gas pool heater, Purewater recommends professional cleaning and startup service, which must be performed by a licensed gas fitter. We have partnered with RM Contracting for many years, they provide exceptional service to our customers and are an authorized service and repair depot for all major pool heater brands.
The pool must be full and running before RM Contracting can complete the cleaning and startup of your gas pool heater.
If your pool is full of debris, we use heavy duty deep leaf rakes to remove the waste. Done this way, you will prevent line blockages AND keep the foul sludge out of your circulation/filtration system.
After the opening, pools are often still dirty. This ranges from clear water with brown dust on the bottom (dead algae) to a virtual swamp. Pool cleanup services are billed on an hourly basis, at $149.99/hour. We can use your chemicals or supply our chemicals for an extra charge
What should you expect?
Relatively clear water with minimal debris can often be achieved within 1 hour. If there are problems with the pump or filter that don’t allow for efficient vacuuming, or if there is a lot of debris, the pool may require more time or a second visit. In a one hour visit we will clean and treat the pool, clean out skimmer and pump baskets, backwash / rinse filters, if necessary, test the water and correct the balance. We will use the chemicals you have on-site, or we can supply what is needed at additional cost.
If you cannot see the bottom of the pool, or the pool is full of leaves, or dark green, your pool needs more time and attention. Multiple visits are needed to go from green to clean. Initial visit would include deep leaf raking to remove large physical debris, brushing walls, and treating the pool with specialized algaecide and chlorine. This will stir up a lot of debris, thus after the first hour we must stop and let the chemicals, circulation and filter do some work. Return visits, repeated vacuuming and chemical treatments will likely be required, or the homeowner can take over at this point. If you want Purewater to get the pool to a beautiful blue, 2 to 4 follow-up visits are usually required.
Purewater will assess your pool on the first visit and recommend if other visits are required
Consider booking a bundle of 10 maintenance visits to clean up the pool and relax a bit this summer. This saves you money, includes chemicals, and can be deployed / used as needed.
We will deliver right to your pool shed or garage when we open your pool, ensuring that you have the right products on hand, when you need them. Save time, save money, and save the hassle of schlepping heavy bags and pails. If you need any other item(s), from solar blankets to pool noodles, give us a call at the store and we will gladly add them in!
In the late summer & fall, especially if used less often, your pool can present maintenance challenges. An unattended pool can become a major cleanup project next spring. Fall cleanup means the pool is put to bed clean and is more likely to open clean. Cleanup services are billed on an hourly basis, at $149.99/hour.

Our standard service offering, applicable to all residential in-ground and above-ground pools, with one skimmer. We clear the suction and return lines of water and install your winter plugs (if they are missing or defective we will supply them as needed for an additional charge). We include and add premium lubricating anti-freeze to the suction lines, skimmer, and pump. We remove the ladder and diving board (if possible / applicable) and prepare the mechanical equipment for winter.
The water level must be lowered to the correct depth to properly close the pool. Please select one of the following:
Purewater strongly recommends the use of a winter cover to keep debris out of the pool, and to protect the liner / pool surface from UV and other damage over the winter. Please select one of the following:
Purewater will not, under any circumstances, use anything other than waterbags or industry approved deck boxes to pin down a traditional tarp cover or leaf net.
Please note that replacement waterbags supplied by Purewater in closing services are a premium, Canadian made product that retails for approximately $5 per unit more than the economy import product. We warrantee any new Canadian waterbags to last the entire winter season. If you prefer to use a less durable waterbag you are advised to purchase these before your closing and have spares available.
Replacement of missing or damaged parts, water bags, plugs, foam rope, etc. are not included in the above prices, and will be supplied as needed and billed separately. Should additional parts or labor be required, you authorize us to go ahead with said work / supply needed parts and bill at our customary rates. Additional parts or work in excess of $200 will be confirmed / consulted prior to completion. HST is extra. If the pool has not been maintained and requires vacuuming, clearing, or balancing please request extra services when you book, as a pool when closed dirty will be in dramatically worse condition come spring. All prices quoted are for residential pools with a single skimmer, up to 135,000 liters. Oversize or commercial- pools, please call for a quotation. Saltwater pools: ALL wastewater must be discharged onto your own property as required by the city of Ottawa. Dates chosen are subject to confirmation and to the limitations imposed by inclement weather.
