This way, it will always run like it did when you first had it installed.
It All Starts with the Water
The number one thing that will help make the maintenance easy for your hot tub is ensuring that you are always keeping your water in check. Maintaining your hot tub properly is essential a three-step process:
• The first step is to balance the water. You likely fill your tub with city water, but the precise chemical balance is not ideal for the spa components. Balancing the water ensures it has the right pH level, total alkalinity and correct calcium hardness range for spa water.
• The next step is to ensure impurities like algae and bacteria are kept under control by sanitizing the spa water. Use a sanitizer like chlorine, bromine, biguanide, or a mineral sanitizer to keep the water clean and safe.
• The final step is shocking or oxidizing the water to remove contaminants. This will ensure the water is not only sanitary, but clear and odour-free.
Keep Your Tub Clean
One of the most important aspects of hot tub maintenance is always making sure that it is clean. There is nothing more detrimental to your hot tub than using it on a regular basis and not keeping the filters clean at all times. This is something that is easy to determine if you are testing your water on a regular basis. However, if you find that you are constantly having to tinker with the chemical balance of your hot tub, it could be because you aren’t cleaning your filters often enough.
How hot is your hot tub? While most of us think that the hotter the tub the better, this isn’t always the case. The hotter your make the tub, the more likely germs and other bacteria will grow. This will cause filtration issues that cloud the water and force the tub to work harder than it needs to.
Maintaining a hot tub does not have to be a difficult task. By properly watching your chemical levels in your water as well as always maintaining the cleanliness of the tub you will be able to enjoy your hot tub for many years to come. You’re always welcome to bring a water sample into the Purewater store and we’d be happy to offer advice.
